FaceBook is the new Internet

Started by VinnyLingham · 10 months ago

I am constantly astounded by what FaceBook is doing - they just get it! Yahoo should have really paid the $2bn they asked for them last year - they’re probably worth $5bn by now! If FaceBook becomes another Google - I think everyone at Yahoo will probably revolt!
I personal ... Continue reading »

    Firstly, I would like to add that I completely agree with you on Myspace : ) Although I would love to have their online ranking and traffic.

    Secondly, Facebook is a great system and they have done that by simply being straight-forward in their development approach. Yahoo will regret its decision.

    Lastly, I would like to extend my congratiolations to your awards won and the Synthasite concept. Looking forward to seeing the concept making name for itself!The BEST of luck towards developing it into a online giant!
  • but it's a front for the CIA!
    ;-)
  • Short, sharp and to the point Vinny. From a user's perspective I find Facebook infinitely superior to other social networking sites, and look what opening their API has done for widgets like iLike. Their CEO said that he wants Facebook to be the pivot around which your web experience revolves, I think they're on the way... (and blogged about it here; http://webthreepointoh.blogspot.com/2007/05/fac... )
  • Until in 18 months time there's another social network that outperforms them. In the social networking market, if you don't innovate enough, you'll quickly become second best - exactly what happened to myspace, allthough I reckon the demographics are slightly different.
  • It is not often that a company gets an application so spot on that there is very little to add or take away. Facebook has certainly raised the bar on user friendly design and functionality. It wont be long before the staff are poached into other industries to design simply user friendly platforms for banking, ordering etc etc
  • Yes it is. As little as a few months ago I didn't see the point. I even felt Facebook to be sort of invasive. I even blogged it (see "Sit on my Facebook.com" on my site). But in the last month or so I've seen a bit beyond the tip of the iceberg and now I have trouble sleeping for all the potential it holds. No wonder Zuckerberg turned down the buy offers. His vision was worth more than they could muster.

    Truly inspiring. I wonder what comes next.
  • I read another great post on Facebook which follows on in the same vein;

    why are my developer's dragging their feet with our app...
  • Ok. So your post convinced me to finally sign up for a Facebook listing. I checked my gmail contact list and found dozens of my affiliate industry colleagues already in there. Hard to believe.
  • With Facebook on the rise, Myspace is really going to take a hit. Although there are still many dedicated Myspace users, I don't think they will be saying any significant growth in new users. Facebook is absorbing all internet users looking to become part of a social networking site. I wonder of Myspace will eventually be completely supplanted by Facebook any time in the near future.
  • I honestly didn't think that myspace would ever get taken over by any other web 2.0 site! Well done facebook.
